I’m still regaining my bearings after the car accident, so I haven’t gotten much done in terms of crafts or great cooking. I went to the fabric store and got some things for an upcoming project, though!
In the meantime, I thought I’d share a recipe that’s become a favorite in our house, particularly with Little Man. It’s not my own recipe, I found it on Food Network. You can find the recipe here.
The recipe is for muffins packed with fruits and vegetables. The recipe calls them “cupcakes,” but let’s be honest– unless your child has never seen a cupcake in their life, they won’t fall for these being cupcakes. They’re muffins.
I’ve made them twice now, and Little Man can’t get enough. Which is great because sometimes he can be really picky about what he’ll eat, and it’s usually not the healthy stuff he goes for first. (more…)
So since NONE of you made ANY guesses on my last post, I’m just going to have to tell you. I mean, it’s really too bad, because I had a HUGE prize for the first person to guess right. I was going to send you a giant check like they give you when you win Publishers Clearing House. And a pony. And a fruit-of-the-month basket.
But you missed out. And I’m so upset that none of you guessed, I won’t ever have another giveaway as big as that one would have been. Just sayin’.
Ok, I’m over it. Now I’ll show you the super cute stuff my sister & I made for my cousin.
I’m going to let you in on a little secret. My life is kind of hectic sometimes. Or most of the time. So whenever you see a post of food I’ve made, it’s food I’ve made for my family. I don’t have time to make meals just for this blog, so most of the stuff you see is what I’ve made for dinner on a particular night.
While this works for me most of the time, winter in Minnesota is not the ideal time for taking dinner photos. Why is that? Oh, right, because it gets dark about 4:30 pm these days. And we don’t eat that early. So it makes for challenging photo sessions, to say the least. It’s sort of comical, actually.
Anyhow. Tonight I made totally amazing burgers. I’m not a huge burger girl, really, but at the Minnesota State Fair every year I have a wild rice burger. To be clear, it’s not like a vegetarian burger that’s just made from rice. It’s a beef burger with wild rice in it. It’s pretty darn tasty. And since I ended up with some extra wild rice after Christmas, I thought I’d try my hand at burger making. (more…)
Well, friends. I have to tell you something.
I’m not perfect.
Phew, glad I got that off my chest.
Sometimes, I make recipes (usually new ones, but sometimes ones I’ve used before) and I just don’t get it right. This is one of those times.
My grandma makes these turtle bars, and they might be my favorite thing she makes. Definitely top 5. So after we got all my grandma’s recipes last year, I couldn’t wait to make them. (more…)
