Usually I don’t mark the change of a new year in many ways. We don’t usually have a big celebration, and I don’t make resolutions. But this year, I’ve really felt the need for change.

I don’t know why it is. I first got the bug when we decorated for Christmas. It necessitated some rearranging of furniture, and the new scenery was refreshing. Since then, we’ve been doing a lot of organizing. I’ve never been a neat freak, but the results of having a 15 month old in our household means that my less-than-totally-neat household looks like a hurricane came through. So I feel the need to keep as many things organized as possible to keep up with the mess. I seriously need to make a trip to Ikea.

I’m pretty sure I could live at Ikea.

I’ve rearranged Little Man’s room, and part of the basement. And now that we’ve packed up all our Christmas stuff again, there’s more breathing room in the living room again.

And another change? I’m getting my hair cut. I’m one of those people who, once I’ve made the decision to get my hair cut, I can’t stand waiting until the appointment. I’m all antsy. But finally the day is here.

I’m also not one of those people who goes in with her hair down her back, cut all one length, and asks for a trim of half an inch. I need change. I think I’ll take off at least a few inches.

Anyway. I’m craving change. A fresh start for this new year. We’ll see where this yearning takes me. Hopefully to new crafts, recipes, and to a grand opening of our Etsy shop!
