I haven’t shared a main dish in a while, so I thought I’d sneak a post in today before my awesome friend Becka comes to visit me from Sweden. I’m guessing we’ll be busy doing awesome things around town for the next week or so, so this might be the only post I get in this week.
This is a recipe I did not create myself. My family has been making this since I was in high school, at least. It came from a cookbook we had, but I have no clue which one. And I’m guessing with the multiple moves between then & now, my parents don’t even have it any more. In case you do, mom & dad, you wanna send the title my way so I can give credit where it’s due?

Technically, I’ve adapted this recipe slightly. I cut down the meat a little and this time I used fresh dill because I had some on hand. So. Meat, check. Creamy sauce, check. Delicious & slightly unusual flavor from dill, check. Looks like a winner! Let’s get started.
It’s been a while since I shared any fabric crafts. So here’s a shirt I made for someone special.
I made this shirt (along with another one I’ll share later) for a shower. Not a typical baby shower, but a shower for a 3 year old boy. If you’re thinking that sounds unusual, you’d be right. But this was for him and his new parents. See, this little dude has been going to our church for some time. First as a foster child with one family at our church, then as a foster-to-adopt child with another family in our church. And then, a few short months ago, his adoption was finalized. Hooray! So we had a shower.

So what’s a girl to do when after she’s made 4th of July whoopie pies and she’s left with a ton of red velvet scraps (not to mention some frosting that didn’t turn out quite right?) Why, make cake pops of course!
In case you’re not familiar with cake pops, they were created by a lovely blogger named Angie over at Bakerella. She’s totally awesome. Anyway. After she invented them, they started cropping up everywhere.
Anyway, I’d never tried making them before, but they’re a perfect way to use up cake scraps! (more…)
Do you like whoopie pies?
I have to admit, my experiences with whoopie pies are pretty limited. It’s not a treat that defined my childhood in any way. But people seem to love them, so I decided to figure out what the fuss was about.
Red velvet whoopie pies are nothing new– do a Google image search for them and you’ll get loads of these guys staring you in the face. And while they seem to have been tailored for Valentine’s Day, I thought they’d make for a great 4th of July dessert as well! (more…)
