Woah, two posts in one week? That hardly ever happens.

Wait, two decorated cookie posts in one week? That has never before happened on this blog.

I had no intention of making Valentine cookies this year, but when I had some leftover dough from the penguin cookies, I decided to make a small batch.

The scalloped squares have always made me think of stamps, so I decided to make Valentine stamp cookies. I found a picture of this year’s Valentine stamps from the post office, and I simplified the design quite a bit to fit on a small cookie.

Here’s a little sequence of pictures showing the process a little.

After doing the pink heart in the center, I flooded the remaining area with red icing.

Lastly (after letting them dry overnight), I used a little food coloring mixed with a little water to paint wavy stripes over the cookies so they look like they’ve been post marked. I also used a food color marker to write on the bottom.

These aren’t my favorite cookies I’ve ever made, but I thought I’d share them anyway and send you all a little Valentine’s Day love!
