If you’ve hung out with me here long enough, you know that I LERVE throwing parties. One of the things I love about parenthood is that it gives me an excuse to throw themed birthday parties for my kids. But when Miss Bean told me this year, she wanted a Paw Patrol party, I was decidedly unexcited. After checking with her multiple times to make sure she really really wanted Paw Patrol this year, I decided that we’d do it my way, and I came up with this glam Paw Patrol party.
Have you ever looked at pictures of a party on Pinterest and thought, I could never do that? Well, I’m here to tell you that you can. And I don’t mean that in a “you can do anything you put your mind to” kind of way. Well, maybe a little. But mostly I mean that you can pull it off without sacrificing your sanity, your work-life balance, or your savings.
Over the years, I’ve shared with you many of the parties I’ve done for my kids. I’ve thrown themed parties for each birthday my kids have had. And in that time, I’ve learned a few things about how to do it in a way that doesn’t make me want to swear off parties forever.

My (not so) Little Man is six.

So a couple of weeks ago we had a party. Little Man wanted to do a science party, which seemed like loads of fun, so I obliged.
And the first thing I knew about doing a science party is that you must have awesome experiments.
Last month was Miss Bean’s second birthday. I can’t believe that two years has passed since that sweet girl entered our lives. It’s hard to remember what life was like before she was in it!
Since she’s still a bit too young to tell us what kind of party she wanted, I had to figure out a party theme that I thought she would enjoy. One of her favorite things in the world is animals, so I decided on a Woodland theme, complete with cute little woodland animals. (more…)
