Christmas is almost here! Which means it’s time to reveal our 2017 Christmas cookie design! I was so excited when I found out the US Postal Service released The Snowy Day stamps this year, so when it was time to design our cookies, I couldn’t think of a better theme than the classic children’s book. Advent Activities

Free Printable Advent Calendar Activities -by amber's hands-

Tomorrow marks the first day of Advent, and with it all the traditions the come along with the celebration of Christmas. A few years ago, we bought an Advent calendar to use with LM, but I knew I didn’t want to put candy in it, I wanted something more meaningful. So we made ours an Advent activities calendar.

Christmas Sweater Cookies

How adorable are these Christmas sweater cookies??

My sister and I have been decorating Christmas cookies for… oh, forever. We started when I was in high school, or maybe even middle school with my mom, and have continued the tradition since moving out. We also started decorating other sugar cookies for other events with specific themes, making a few designs and repeating them to make whole platters of decorated cookies. And yet somehow, it’s taken us this long to realize that our normal scheme of decorating each cookie as its own masterpiece is an insane time-suck.

But no more! This year we had a theme, and a plan. And what says Christmas more than Christmas sweaters? So all of our cookies are decorated Fair-Isle style for some kitschy, festive cuteness.

Dark Chocolate Ginger Cookies with Candied Orange Slices

Well, that’s a mouthful! In the best kind of way. I just made these and they are ridiculously good, so I just had to share.

If you are absolutely done making Christmas cookies this year (and really, I won’t blame you. It’s only 5 days away!!) these would also make excellent cookies for a New Year’s party.

What I love about these cookies is that they’re still festive while being significantly different (and much less sweet) than most Christmas cookies. (more…)
