Oh my goodness, guys. Can you believe I haven’t made any decorated cookies since May?? That’s crazy. I’m not sure I’ve gone that long between cookie batches since I started decorating cookies. I mean, seriously decorating cookies. Decorated sugar cookies have been a Christmas tradition in my family since I was in high school (or maybe before.)
I’m not going to say much in this post because it’s already my bedtime and I’m pretty much just desperate to get some kind of Christmas-related post on here, since it’s ONE WEEK UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!! Goodness. Where does my life go?
So here are a bunch of pretty cookies. Sorry, no tutorials, but the techniques aren’t really any different than other ones I’ve shown you. They’re not drastically different than last year’s. We were running out of creativity. (more…)
This week has been totally nuts. And will continue to be nuts because it’s almost Christmas! Anyway, I wanted to share with you all the sugar cookies we made for Christmas this year. They’re pretty cute! But because I’m short on time, these pictures are unedited, and have very little descriptors… I hope you all are ok with that. 🙂
I used the same sugar cookie recipe I usually do, only I added 1 tsp. cardamom, 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1/4 tsp. freshly ground nutmeg. I also used 1 tsp. almond extract and no vanilla. I flavored the royal icing with 1 tsp. almond as well. We had some icing consistency issues, so they’re not quite as detailed as they usually are. But I think they’re still ok. 🙂

I have a confession to make.
I don’t like stuffing.
I know, it’s like a Thanksgiving heresy.
But often, stuffing is gummy and tastes strongly of celery and salt and the texture just gets to me. The boxed stuff is especially heinous.
I don’t begrudge others their love of stuffing. I just generally take a polite amount and keep it passing. But the thought of wild rice stuffing? That’s a stuffing I might be able to get behind.
Wild rice is a very Minnesotan thing. And one of my favorite foods of all time. (more…)
