Christmas is almost here! Which means it’s time to reveal our 2017 Christmas cookie design! I was so excited when I found out the US Postal Service released The Snowy Day stamps this year, so when it was time to design our cookies, I couldn’t think of a better theme than the classic children’s book. Right around the time that fall hits, it seems our tastes change. We long for those comforting foods– you know, the ones with all the butter and cream? Haha. And also the ones filled with warm spices.
These gingersnaps from my grandma’s recipe box fit the bill perfectly. In my family, these have always been called “gingersnaps,” but the truth is that there isn’t anything “snappy” about these cookies. These are soft and chewy and filled with molasses. They’re just plain delicious. A cookie by any other name, right?
Oh my goodness, guys. Can you believe I haven’t made any decorated cookies since May?? That’s crazy. I’m not sure I’ve gone that long between cookie batches since I started decorating cookies. I mean, seriously decorating cookies. Decorated sugar cookies have been a Christmas tradition in my family since I was in high school (or maybe before.)
I’m not going to say much in this post because it’s already my bedtime and I’m pretty much just desperate to get some kind of Christmas-related post on here, since it’s ONE WEEK UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!! Goodness. Where does my life go?
So here are a bunch of pretty cookies. Sorry, no tutorials, but the techniques aren’t really any different than other ones I’ve shown you. They’re not drastically different than last year’s. We were running out of creativity. (more…)
