Happy Mother’s Day!

Here’s a really simple idea for Mother’s Day cards!

Sometimes you want something more personal than a store-bought card, but maybe you’re not crafty enough to make anything complicated. This card is for you!

What you need:

Card made for our moms. Photo taken by Frost on Flower Digital Photography.

We had this super adorable picture of Little Man that I wanted to give our moms anyway. So we turned it into its own card.

By using photo corners, you can remove the photo from the card without any damage.

Just stamp a simple message on the outside, and write what you want on the inside!

That’s it!

Quilled Birthday Card

Last time I checked in with you guys, it was Friday. And I had no dessert. But I also needed to make a card for my husband’s grandma’s 85th birthday.

So the husband went out and got us some Dairy Queen, and then I had the energy to make a card. There is a direct correlation between the intake of dessert and the output of crafts.

Anyhow. I started out like I always do– browsing Google images for inspiration.

Ok, guys, I’ma get real for a minute. (Please excuse the ridiculous slang.) I feel that it is of utmost importance to respect others’ creative ideas. While I peruse the internet for inspiration, I go out of my way not to copy others’ designs. Occasionally I have made crafts I’ve found on other websites, but I don’t generally blog about those things (and if I do, I link back to the original site.) So I want to ask you to do the same. I would be honored if any of you wanted to make some of my crafts for your own personal use, but please don’t claim others’ hard work as your own original idea, and under no circumstances sell those products without permission from the artist. Be cool, ok? I’ll do the same for you.

Ok, so now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let me tell you about this card I made. (more…)

Savory Hamburger Hotdish

Well, fall is here.

I have mixed feelings about that. I like fall. I love the changing of the leaves, the crisp air, the smells of autumn.

But fall also means that winter is coming.

I’m not a fan of winter.

I don’t know why I live in Minnesota.

One good thing about fall is that with the cooler temperatures comes the yearning for comfort food.

And where better to look for comfort food recipes than in my Grandma’s recipes?

Individual Ginger Peach Crisps with Brandy Cream

Peaches! Peaches, Peaches, Peaches!

I love peaches.

And since peaches are in season, I’ve been canning a bunch. I made an AMAZING peach-rosemary jam and canned some honey spice peaches as well.

I bought a 16 lb. box of peaches for doing things with, and after canning several recipes’ worth, I had a few left. I wasn’t up to any more canning, so while I was driving home from Little Man’s doctor’s appointment (double ear infection) I was scheming about what to do with them.

Initially, I thought about making a ginger-peach tarte that I’ve made before, but I decided it was too much work and it’s not the easiest thing to keep in the fridge for a few days as my husband and I eat it. I had all the ingredients for the tarte, so I decided to rethink them. (more…)
